City & Guilds have two alternative qualifications relating to the 17th edition.

2382-10 Level 3 Cert in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671 June 2008).

2382-20 Level 3 Cert in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (16th to 17th edition update BS 7671 2008)

So which qualification can trainees take?
It all depends on their previous qualifications

Can trainees take the 2382-20 update qualification?
Yes, if they have one of the following required entry qualifications:

  • 2381 Electrical Installations BS7671 (16th edition) achieved June 2001 onward
  • 2330-07 Installation (Building and Structures)
  • 2330-08 Electrical Maintenance
  • 2360 Electrical Installation Part Two
    (if this 2360 qualification was achieved
    on or after 1st January 2004 )

Do trainees need to take the 2382-10 full qualification?
Yes, if they do not have the qualifications required for entry onto the 2382-20 update qualification.
